Life Story for Lorraine Sochacki

Lorraine Sochacki, 72, passed away unexpectedly August 2nd, 2022. She is survived by her loving husband, Frank, sons Ryan & Andrew, and daughters-in-law Kara & Laura; however, nobody was more precious to “Nanny” than her beautiful grandchildren Lucas and Claire.
Lorraine’s goal in life was to make sure that those she loved were cared for, comfortable, showered with affection, and supported in time of need. Raising her children to be respectful men was of the utmost importance to her, and the home she kept was one of gratitude, devotion, tenderness, and faith.
Lorraine was born December 23rd, 1949 in Woodhaven, NY, to Charles and Winnifred McCormick. She graduated from Christ the King Catholic High School and loved growing up in New York City, where she met her husband, and a large group of her closest friends. She grew up playing in Forest Park, reading Nancy Drew, and shopping on Jamaica Avenue (where she honed and developed a lifelong skill). She was proud to work at Allen & Company, on Wall Street, before moving to Smithtown, NY, to begin raising her family. This role became the most influential and rewarding stage of her career.
Lorraine loved playing with her grandchildren, growing flowers, being on the water, and talking on the phone with friends and family. She also loved to cheer on her two sons playing sports and managed their travel hockey teams, organizing ice-time, tournaments, hotels, and social gatherings. Lorraine also fostered her sons’ love for golf, and made sure they always had a place to practice and play. She was a devoted mother & grandmother, a best friend, and always put others before herself. Nanny left a lasting impression on all those around her and she will be with us forever.
Please join us celebrating Lorraine’s life Wednesday, August 10th, 2022, between 4:00 -8:00 p.m. at N.F. Walker Funeral Home, 8734 80th St., Woodhaven, New York 11421.
