Life Story for Joseph Ismael Camacho-Marquez

Joseph (Joe) Camacho, 73, passed away on March 17, 2022, surrounded by family.
He was born to parents Ismael and Agripina Camacho, on May 17, 1948, in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. Throughout his life he lived in many places, including Florida, New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.
Joe was a proud Vietnam veteran, having served his country in the Army from 1968 to 1970. He also held many careers, working as a correctional officer, managing security companies, and driving limousines, taxi-cabs, and trucks .
Joe enjoyed watching action movies and reading crime thrillers. He also loved to eat, his favorite food being Puerto Rican food and anything sweet and sugary. He was immensely proud of his children and loved spending time with his family and dogs. Joe was loved by all and always made the people around him laugh.
Joe is survived by his mother, Agripina, his children, Joey, Mai-Ling, Eddie, Jeanette, Monica and Felicia, the mother of three of his children, Barbara, his siblings, Freddie, Deby, Marilyn, Tony, Norma, Liz and Izzy, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joe was also a lover of animals and is survived by his favorite furry grand-dogs, Corona (Roni) and Pongo. Joe was predeceased by his father Ismael and brother Jay.
The memorial will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at 4 p.m. at the N.F. Walker of Queens Funeral Home. The mass will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. The burial and military honors ceremony will be held on Monday, March 28, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Cypress Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Dementia Society of America or Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice.
