Life Story for Susan Richards

Obituary

Susan Agatha Richards was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at the age of 90.
Susan was born to Myriam and Zacariah Richards on September 2, 1931, in Limehall District, St. Catherine, Jamaica. She was one of 14 Siblings. Known by everyone as “Aunt Sue,” Susan spent many early mornings and late nights as an entrepreneur, buying and selling goods. Prior to that, she was a nanny, taking care of others and their children. In time, Susan had three children – Talbert, Norma, and Sonia. She also adopted a son, Clement, whom she welcomed to the family with open arms and an open heart.
On February 18, 1988, Susan moved to the United States, where she spent most of her time with her family and looking after her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Because she loved kids and enjoyed cooking, this brought her great joy. She also volunteered some of her time at the food pantry across the street from where she lived in Queens. The person that Susan was when she was older was the same type of person that she was when she was younger – a humble, hard worker who cared about others.
Susan is survived by her sisters Naomi, Lillian and Ivy, her brother Edmond, her children Talbert and Norma, her grandchildren Denecia, Barrington, Jodiann, Andre, Renee, Jennifer, Moriah, Devante and Sheldon, her great-grandchildren Barrington Jr., Dylan, Terrique, Alyssa, Reneé, Camille, and Mackenzie, as well as many other family members, including nieces, and nephews. Although no longer with us, Susan will live on in the memories of those whom she touched. She will be missed.
